CAM Software for CNC and CAD/CAM Solutions (5)

CAM software for CNC turns a 3D model into toolpaths and NC code for a specific machine. This section covers CAM, CAD and CAE software used in production: Mastercam, SprutCAM, hyperMILL by OPEN MIND Technologies, Siemens NX CAM and PowerMILL. Choose a solution and contact us: we advise whether it fits your machines, parts and team before you commit. We do not resell these systems. We help you choose the modules, and you buy the license from the developer or its authorized reseller.

Post-processors for machining systems

A CAM system is only as good as its post-processor. We write and adapt post-processors for your machine and control, so that the NC program matches the kinematics, the control and the options of your machine: 5-axis heads and tables, mill-turn centers, probing and tool changers. That removes manual editing at the machine, which is where most crashes and lost hours start.

Non-standard software tasks

Production also runs into tasks that no box product solves: linking CAM with the shop's tool database, automating repeat programming, adapting software to an unusual machine or robot cell. Describe the problem and the software you already use, and we will propose a way to solve it.

Questions and answers

What is a post-processor in CAM software?

A post-processor is the translator between the CAM system and a particular machine. The CAM software calculates toolpaths in neutral form; the post-processor converts them into NC code for one control and one kinematic layout, with the right axis limits, rotary moves, cycles and M-codes. A generic post usually needs hand edits at the machine, while a tailored one produces code that runs as is.

How do you write a post-processor for a machining center?

We start from the machine data: model, control and its version, axis configuration, rotary axes, options such as probing or high-speed modes, and a few sample programs that already run well. Then we build the post in your CAM system, test it on simulation and on reference parts, and adjust it until the output needs no manual editing. When the machine or the CAM version changes, we update the post.

Which CAM software should I choose for 5-axis machining?

Choose the system your machines and parts need, not the longest feature list. For complex 5-axis surfaces, mold and impeller work, look at the depth of 5-axis strategies and collision control. For a shop with many different machines and robots, the range of supported kinematics and post-processors matters more. Integration with your CAD and training resources decide the rest. We can compare two or three candidates on your own part.

How do I buy a CAM software license?

Tell us which system you are interested in, the modules you need, the number of seats and the machines you plan to program. We advise whether the solution fits your tasks and which configuration makes sense. You then buy the license from the developer or its authorized reseller on their terms. We write the post-processor for your machines ourselves, in parallel with the license purchase.
