What is a laser tracker used for?
A laser tracker measures the 3D position of a reflector target by following it with a laser beam and measuring distance and two angles. It covers large volumes, from a few meters to tens of meters, so it is used to inspect large parts, align machines and fixtures, and check jigs in aerospace, automotive and heavy engineering. Probes and scanners extend it to hidden points and surfaces.
Which measuring instrument should I choose: laser tracker, CMM or 3D scanner?
A coordinate measuring machine gives the highest accuracy for small and medium parts in a controlled room. A laser tracker is portable and suits large parts and machine alignment on the shop floor. A 3D scanner captures whole surfaces quickly, which helps with freeform shapes, comparison to CAD and reverse engineering. Many shops combine two of them for different tasks.
How do I order measuring instruments and accessories?
Send the model and the configuration you need, or describe the measuring task: part size, tolerance, environment and the software you report in. For accessories such as reflectors, probes, stands or cables, the instrument model and serial number are enough. We confirm the configuration with the manufacturer and send terms per request.
How is calibration handled for new measuring instruments?
New instruments normally leave the manufacturer with a factory calibration. If your quality system requires an accredited certificate or a specific standard, write it in the request, because it can change the delivery set and the timing. For instruments already in use, we can source calibration artifacts, reference spheres and other accessories needed for periodic checks.
