US developer of laser trackers, LADAR scanning, 3D scanners and calibration systems for CNC machines and robots.
API Metrology measuring instruments are built for large parts and machine geometry rather than the benchtop. The company describes itself as the inventor of the laser tracker, and its range still centers on portable 3D measurement: trackers, a LADAR system that measures without a target, and handheld scanners. A second half of the catalog deals with calibration. Laser interferometer systems, ballbars and rotary-axis checkers are used to find positioning errors on machine tools and robots so they can be compensated. API also runs measurement and calibration services, including inspection, alignment and reverse engineering.
